What exactly is meant by "trying your best"?Senior Zhi Yi talked to us about this issue a few years ago, after a performance if I didn't remember wrongly. Not sure why but I began thinking about this after the hectic exam period has passed..How many of you have ever heard someone saying that they had did their best? Sure, many people can claim that they have done their best, but it ultimately depends on what that person's definition of the phrase. For example, some guy can slack through the whole academic year and starts to study really hard in term 4 one or two months before the exams, and saying that he did his best and has nothing to regret about. Compared to another guy who has worked consistently hard throughout the year and saying he did his best, isit fair to make such a statement? Many people have tried give themselves false assurances by using this statement. "oh i done my best liao nvm if do badly". I admit that I am once guilty of such a fault too, but now I've come to realise that there is hardly such a thing as doing one's best because you can always do and accomplish much more. You are just limiting yourself and your potential when you say such things. This phrase is not meant to be used lightly.-----------------------------------------Though the difficult and stressful exam days are over for me (for now at least), it has just started for my sister, who starts her PSLE English today. Can see that she is working very hard to get good results and make my parents happy. Just do your best and don't be too stressed. I give you moral support haha. All the best!
